Hope for holiness

There's a whole lot that's been running around in my head. The thoughts this morning have to do with the fact that I am exceptionally weary of humanity's fallen nature, my own and others'. This morning there are a few things:
  • Gossip
  • Judgmentalism
  • Overstepping boundaries, resulting in shredded relationships
  • Betrayal
  • Unforgiveness
  • Arrogance
  • Lack of willingness to consider another's point of view
  • Etc.
Did I mention that I don't like the view in the mirror sometimes? Yes, I'm sick of it in others. I also wish I could wake up one morning and instantly be who I should be.

Oh, wait. I can. I have. It's in the presence of the Holy One that I'm reminded of grace, love, forgiveness and reconciliation. If I can be reconciled to God, surely He can teach people to work together in trust, transparency and holiness. I have hope, not in humanity, but in the holiness that is found in the character of God; in the holiness that isn't just a theological nicety, but a practical reality in the lives of those who let God's character affect their thoughts and motives.
